SOS – Save Our Sidney presents ….Jan Egil Gulbrandsen

”Strategy for retail success in Sidney in the years to come.”

Wednesday, May 7th 6:30-8:30PM
Charlie White Theatre
Mary Winspear Centre, Sidney, BC

This event is open to all interested Peninsula residents and Sidney businesses. There is no admission fee.

The SOS guest speaker for May will be Mr. Jan Egil Gulbrandsen, a Norwegian entrepreneur – co-founder of the Europris chain – Norway’s answer to Wal-Mart – a general merchandise retail chain in Norway, established in 1992.  As the CEO, Mr. Gulbrandsen, during the first eight years, grew it from a single store to over 70 stores.  These stores are +/- 15,000 sq. ft and can now be found across Norway, with many in towns similar in size and scope to Sidney.

In 2011, Mr. Gulbrandsen sold Europris, which by then had grown to over 200 stores and over a billion dollars in sales, and moved to the Saanich Peninsula with his Canadian wife Bev.  He is now an international investor, mostly in real estate, and a passionate supporter of “Save Our Sidney”.

Following the presentation, the floor will be open for discussion on the next steps for SOS – Save Our Sidney.

The SOS annual fees have been set (for the balance of 2014) at $20 per member (both business & resident). However additional donations would be most welcome!
We currently have a membership of +/- 100 but new members are always welcome so
please bring your friends and neighbours.
6:30 PM Welcome & Update
As this is our first SOS meeting I will act as interim chairman and provide a brief PowerPoint update on new
