Trying to Jumpstart A Conversation?Starting a conversation with a stranger is one of the biggest networking challenges people face, so when we find good ideas we like to share them. A week ago Darcy gave a keynote presentation,
Face-to-Face Networking in the Digital Age, and at the reception that followed an attendee shared a great conversation tip with us. Pauline Blachford, Patient Care and Community Relations for White Rock Optometry Clinic, said she often will ask people, “Tell me something about yourself that I wouldn’t know to ask.” This may seem like a bold question, but if you engage the person in a little upfront chat, rather than leaping right into this question, you give yourself some time to get a ‘read’ on the other person–would they be open to this question? If so, you can give it a try. Do you have a great conversation starter question? Tweet us at @ShepaLearning –Darcy, Gayle and Judy
